Click here to see the Presentation Full Screen

This presentation was presented by Melanie Forthun to B20s in 2006 at the Gabovo Printed Media workshop. It overs most basic Marketing and Design elements. One could potentially use this presentation for Bulgarians or for seminars. It could also be used as a teaching reference as well. The Presentation is in English but there are some nice visuals accompaning the Presentation as well. Definitely watch this presentation, either in its full screen mode or the embedded version here.

Web Design Presentation | Circa 2006, Good for Basics

Brett Baker, a B16 or B17, created a Presentation for Web Design for the PST of the B20s in September 2006. He it offers some valuable pointers on HTML Design and also Webpage Design Programs such as Dreamweaver or Frontpage as well. Also, he details rather well how to purchase a .bg domain. His information is worth skimming over, but in some cases it is somewhat outdated. Regardless, have a look:

Marketing Glossary | Definitions and Terms

This glossary was created by Melanie Forthun for the Gabrovo workshop for printed meda in 2006. There are some technical terms but most importantly she helps explain the differences between the types of marketing; which is important when trying to determine your target audience and target medium. Publishing rarely goes without a target audience and is much more successful when the target audience is clear. Definitely look through this document to acquaint yourself with some of these marketing terms and concepts.

Design Handout | Overview and Concepts

This is a Design Handout created by B20 Melanie Forthun at the Gabrovo Printed Media workshop in 2006. She makes some great points about the concepts of media and overviews content that some of you may have learned in college. Please feel free to look through the document and utilize the concepts in your Designing process of for printed media.

Marketing Handout | Overview and Explaination

In 2006, there was a workshop about Design, Marketing and Publishing printed materials in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. A B20, Melanie Forthun, created some rather nice handouts about marketing. Its a great overview and also simplifies the process. I recommend those thinking about making any sort of media to overview this document as a reference.

Adobe InDesign Tutorial | Simplied and not Comprehensive

Click here for the Adobe InDesign Tutorial

Adobe InDesign is, by far the most complex and dynamic program for Printed Media Publishing. There are others, such as Quark but you won't find it in Bulgaria. This tutorial is not complete or comprehensive but should be used as an overview. The best way to learn the InDesign software is to 1) Practice Trial and Error (My Preferred Method) or 2) Read a book about it (More comprehensive than websites where you can only search for specific things). Anyway, take a look at the Tutorial and use it as a jumping off block.

Example Brochure | Design it On Paper, then Use a Computer

Here is an example of a Brochure about Gabrovo. Notice that the person first designed the whole brochure on paper and then translated that into a digital format. For the most part, you will find that it is easier to design and create printed materials if you work on paper first. It saves a lot of time and also ensures that your vision is kept through the process; A very easy before and after comparison can be made.

Welcome to the B24 Presentation for Print and Internet Media

This website will be a repository for links, presentations and information pertaining to the B24 Print and Internet Media Presentation.

This blog/website will not be updated regularly and it is planned only to be used by the B24 group. This format is much better than a website because it takes a lot less time (2 minutes to setup) and is much easier to handle. Its a perfect example of what people in the B24 Group can do for their organizations. Make something simple that doesn't have much control in terms of design and improve it as demanded (possibly switching to different formats).
